What are the pros? easy, tasty, compact plant
What are the cons? Very tough if not picked early
This is my first year growing any squash. This was the first kind to ripen and super easy to grow. Have 1 plant in a nutrient-rich hugelkultur bed and another in unamended soil to test them. Both plants are growing and producing exactly the same. Takes drought fairly well. Super producer. 2 plants have produced 25 squash so far and there are, at last count, 13 more ripening out there. The seeds are great roasted alone or cooked with the squash. Fried in butter and salt is my favorite method of cooking the squash but it goes GREAT in a hearty stew too. This will be a staple from here on in my garden.
