A Delicious Galactic Beauty-- With mottled skin resembling a scene from deep space, each fascinating fruit depicts the depth and beauty of the night sky. Dark Galaxy bears 2-8 ounce fruits that are flattened, with red and orange stripes covered in random speckles, and layered by deep blue. The vines themselves display a purple blush and grow 5-6 feet tall while producing good amounts of the stunning tomatoes that begin to ripen in about 75 days. The taste is a perfect balance of tangy-sweetness--so juicy and refreshing! Each fruit is a unique work of art, sure to be a garden and tabletop centerpiece! Another stunning tomato from Brad Gates.

What are the pros? Super photogenic and tasty.

What are the cons? Little smaller than expected

Review:

This was my favorite newcomer to my garden. Mine started out with dark purple shoulders and green blossom end, transitioning to ripe as depicted in the photo above. It was really interesting to watch the tomatoes ripen. My plants grew really well, despite an extremely hot and dry summer and being exposed to some windy conditions. I have heavy clay soils, that I did not amend and the plants still did will. Very little issues with cracking. Tomato flavor was great! I plan to incorporate a more heavy duty method of trellising my plants next year, as the plants set heavy with fruit.

What are the pros? Best both roasted and in sauce

What are the cons? Wish they were larger

Review:

Love this tomato. First time growing. Was very slow to mature (does not like cool nights). This is the most meaty tomato I’ve grown. Very little juice. They are wonderful both roasted and in tomato sauce. They were very high yield but very slow to maturity. There is only a few days between green, then ripened and soft (partial rotten). I think it’s because we had night temps a few times down to 60 degrees.

What are the pros? Great flavor, tons of fruits

What are the cons? cracking

Review:

I grew 22 tomatoes plants this year and Dark Galaxy outshined them all. It produced tons of fruit in our scorching hot summer. The only problems I have with it were , as it produced more fruit they were smaller and smaller. The first 5-7 were close to the pound range. They do crack more than some of the other varieties we grew with our latest downpour. That said the flavor was superb and these will be a permanent fixture in our garden.

What are the pros? Beautiful, very productive

What are the cons? Flavor good but not great

Review:

These were anew tomato for us this year and our favorite of the new styles (along with the Napa chardonnay cherries). They take a while to ripen, but we got really high yield with the first ones coming ripe after about 85 days. The amount of black to brown mottling on a skin varies considerably, with some being almost all orange, but they are all beautiful. The flesh inside is pink and firm, excellent for slicing. The flavor isn't as strong as say brandy wines, but is quite pleasant.

What are the pros? thick and meaty

What are the cons? none

Review:

Perfect for sandwiches and pizzas. Manageable size if eating for 2. Based on color, I expected a Merlot flavor like the Cherokee purple, but was not disappointed! Light, floral sweetness. Mildly acidic. extremely thick and meaty texture-barely any pulp. With proper pruning for sun penetration, and allowing the tomato to vine ripen, you will get deep space colors.
