Stunning violet-blue pods are produced on lovely little bush plants that do not require staking. The delicious peas are perfect for soups and stews, or the pods can be picked small and can be used as a snow pea. A great addition from Holland.

What are the pros? The color, texture and favor!

What are the cons? didn't grow enough!

Review:

These peas are absolutely gorgeous and have a beautiful purple "leather-like" pod with bright green peas inside. The purple flower blooms are stunning in the garden. The first year i grew them, they didn't grow so well. The second year they did great! I plan to freeze them down for winter soups and summer salads!

Review:

I grew this pea for the first time and I am very impressed. It kept on producing from early spring until the killer frost. It was very easy to grow and my Farmers Market customers loved its color.

What are the pros? Beautiful Pods

What are the cons? Does Not Do Well In Fall

Review:

I recommend these purple peas because they are tasty, hardy, with gorgeous blossoms. I grew in the Spring and they were vibrant and very happy in the garden, but when I grew them for a Fall garden they did not do very well when my other pea varieties prospered. They took longer to germinate and did not produce well. So, I definitely recommend growing these but only for the Spring season. They are a most wonderful pea variety! our family loved the beautiful purple color, unique taste, and we loved simply watching the beautiful blossoms of mutli colored purple hues decorate our Spring garden. Also, I love the fact they do not need a trellis (even though I added a trellis) they climbed up wonderfully and grew to about 2 1/2 ft. Very compact, easy to grow, great addition to the garden!

What are the pros? Absolutely beautiful!

What are the cons? But not dwarf.

Review:

They quickly outgrew the 3-foot bamboo stakes and are now at the top of 5-foot stakes, which they need. Too top-heavy to hold each other up. Did I mistakenly order the wrong pea? No, there it is on the package: Dwarf. On a garden as small as mine, a problem, but not unsurmountable. Luckily they're not putting anything in the shade.

Review:

This was my first year growing these beauties and I'm really glad I did. I managed to squirrel away a few bags of frozen snap peas for the freezer and then let the rest dry. Like everyone else has said before me, these are not the variety you want to eat as a mature pea. I plan on trying these in soups and seeing how that goes. If not, I have plenty of seed now for fall and next spring.
