A fountain of eye-catching magenta-burgundy blooms! Here's a different amaranth—curious flower-heads in a weeping habit, with “tassels” sometimes reaching down to the ground. Plants seldom exceed 3 feet in height. A form of Love-Lies-Bleeding, so the seeds and young leaves are edible. Combine with Spider Flower or flowering tobacco for some serious drama!

What are the pros? Late fall highlight

What are the cons? Late bloomer

Review:

I bought this because of the cool photo in the catalog. I didn't even have a place in mind for them. This is very easy to grow, with a very high germination rate. For the longest time I thought they were just kind of plain.. I had all these plants so I stuck them in here and there where there was space behind other plants, and kept some in pots in a utility area of the yard. I transplanted them to the grass/perennial garden when there were gaps- they have no problem with being moved. Finally, in late September they bloomed, and they were spectacular.! They are excellent with ornamental grasses and provided color, structure, and interest when other flowers were sprawling and fading. They were great though October and into November. I now consider these a must-have for the fall garden.

What are the pros? Wonderful for container!

What are the cons? None

Review:

This plant received rave reviews from our visitors as well as my fellow horties. Can be grown alone or combined with other plants to make a dazzling container display. The stalks were strong which was a plus for holding up the large, abundant colorful tassels of deep red.

What are the pros? easy to grow, great food

What are the cons? none

Review:

Wonderful easy to grow, will do well in planters or soil and seems to grow to the size of its container, we use for food for humans and the flock, as a matter of fact the chicken drop seeds as they peck the locks, and the plant reseeds and regrows quite well for poultry habitat use. Food, attracts nummy bugs with its lovely bright colors and the 3-4 foot tall plants also provide cover from predators, excellent crop of you have poultry
