Bright, sunny colors: yellow, pink, red, and orange. The edible flowers are popular for salads and as a garnish; the peppery leaves are also very flavorful. A colorful garden favorite.

What are the pros? Tasty, Beautiful

What are the cons? None

Review:

I bought these when I found out that they were edible and could deter cucumber beetles. I planted them around my cucumber vines and so far haven't seen any cucumber beetles which plagued my garden and destroyed my crop last year. The flavor is surprising; very light and vegetable-like with a fairly strong, spicy aftertaste. My family enjoys snacking on them and enjoying their vibrant color. We will be growing these for years to come.

The leaves and blooms are gorgeous! And man, this is a hardy flower. I have one still growing in a pot inside, after I accidentally froze it outside TWICE (Maine fall/winter!). The second time I thought for sure it was a goner, but it has regrown it's leaves both times. Will definitely be potting and munching on a bunch of these come spring :)

Review:

These plants worked great for me in containers, I just tossed the seeds in a pot in late summer, I thought I'd messed up and then one day there were strong little seedlings poking up. They bloom lots of pretty, long-lasting yellow flowers all fall that have a faint floral smell. I water them in the containers maybe once or twice a week and trim the vines back occasionally to keep them under control. The flowers have a very tropical look, and have bloomed here in central Florida well into December, the blooms and leaves still look great even after a couple of 30 degree nights.

If you plant nasturtium every year like I do, try these. The plants were not that dwarfy, but lovely, long lasting in the garden, tasty in salad, all seeds germinated.

What are the pros? PROLIFIC!

What are the cons? HUGE!

Review:

These ate my garden this past season. I don't know what a regular size nasturtium does, but these got at least two feet high and sprawled to nearly three feet in diameter PER PLANT. I planted two. Lordy! BUT! I'm not complaining. I love plants that love my garden. The leaves and flowers of this plant are flat out delicious and the flowers smell heavenly! Who knew? If you've got narrow pathways to navigate in a small space like me, these are not a good edge plant, but try them in pots or give them their own corner and they will reward you handsomely!
