What are the pros? Sets a decent amount of fruit
What are the cons? It's always rotten
I've grown a lot of different melons (over 50 different varieties). Most of the time I don't have any real trouble. This guy was an exception. Regardless of when I picked it, when I'd cut it I could see the flesh was rotting (the color variances gives it away). It does slip, but it's rotten when it slips. I tried pulling them off early - they were rotten then too. Being me, I had to taste them anyway - and I'd spit it right back out. I could tell from the taste on the ones I picked early that they weren't ripe yet - but were still rotten. I don't know if it was some disease I've not seen before or what the story is, but this thing was always rotten - I had them planted in more than one hole too but the story was the same with the rest of them. My other melons did fine.
