(C. mixta) A unique pear-shaped pumpkin with lovely white skin. The vines give good yields of 10 lb fruits. Creamy yellow flesh makes great pies. An heirloom that has been grown by the Fortna family of Pennsylvania for more than 60 years. Rare and unusual.

What are the pros? Easy and prolific

What are the cons? None

Review:

I planted the seeds and ignored them until harvest time. They are pest and drought resistant and the most prolific pumpkin I planted in 2017. They make tasty pies.

What are the pros? Numerous, 5-8lb fruit

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I grew 6 different winter squash varieties in the front yard of my townhouse, which is quite constrained for space. This and Winter Luxury were clear winners, producing 4 pumpkins in the 5-8lb range on a single plant reaching about 20ft total length. Resistant to bacterial wilt and able to regrow even after my daughter accidentally cut off the main vine, this continued growing all the way up until frost and started producing early.

Review:

Easy to grow. Produced lots of pumpkins in various sizes where we have otherwise been unsuccessful. We had them vine off our fence and it worked great. Can't wait to make pies!

What are the pros? Great taste; makes great pies

What are the cons? none

Review:

These pumpkins have been in my family for years and are named for my uncle Wayne Fortna who was famous for them. They make wonderful eating and are easy to grow and prepare. They are a very convenient size, not being tremendously large, and have an unusual white skin with a yellow/orange flesh.
