On this Giving Tuesday, we are focusing on those close to home here at our southern Missouri headquarters. On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 1 and 2, 100% of our sales will go to support The Salvation Army’s Midland Division’s #RESCUECHRISTMAS initiative for needy families in Missouri and southern Illinois.
This year has been extremely challenging, as the COVID-19 pandemic wrought economic and social upheaval and sickened or killed millions of people around the globe. The most vulnerable among us have suffered disproportionately.
Charitable giving is a foundation of Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company’s mission and culture.
From providing free seeds for hundreds of groups and projects each year to supporting the philanthropic work of those working for health, education, food security and food sovereignty around the world, we are committed to supporting work that uplifts communities and families.
The ways in which your purchase helps include:
- Providing groceries and holiday meals to the hungry
- Helping struggling families and the elderly stay warm this winter with rental and utility assistance
- Putting toys and clothes under the tree for children who would otherwise go without this Christmas
- Sustaining life-changing Salvation Army programs throughout the region – especially in rural communities where resources are scarce
Like many other charities, the pandemic has strained The Salvation Army’s ability to meet an increased need for help. They estimate that with additional resources, they could serve up to 155 percent more people with Christmas assistance this year.
