Review:

This was my first time growing corn, and I planted about 12 in a 5 gallon bucket, as my space is limited. Even so, these still grew great, and were ~7-8 feet tall, with thick stalks. The potting mix was a good commercial grade, to which I added 25% peat moss, ~25% cow manure, and 1/4 cup of bone meal. I watered and fed fairly heavy, and applied a thick top dressing of manure after 2 months, which I'm sure helped. These were almost always standing in a couple inches of water up to the end of the season. I think the optimal number of plants in this type of setup would be 7 or less. Ears were gorgeous, and varied from 3" to 6" long. I hand pollinated several times, which helps if you only have a few plants. I couldn't bring myself to eat any, but am sending seed to gardening friends, and will plant a lot more with better spacing this summer.? The only hard part of growing these is waiting to see the endless color variations!
