What are the pros? Plenty of beans and self seeds
What are the cons? Woody, tasteless, even stewed
The beans grow so prolific they've actually become problematic. Choking out my zinnias and watermelons. Climbing everything and volunteering everywhere. I have grown them two years now after thinking the first year's poor taste had to do with poor soil quality. New soil this year, same woody texture and tasteless beans. I may have gotten a bad batch of seeds, but we've tried cooking these all sorts of ways with generally poor results. Even after crock pot, or stovetop stewing, simmering for hours, they are still woody and awful to bite into. I may opt to buy another packet to make sure I'm not crazy, but each bean that has been produced has been nearly inedible.
It could be that these got bred differently as they are most definitely a pole bean climbing more than 12-15' on trellises. I don't like writing poor reviews but these were horrific. Plenty of them, though! LOL!!!
