What are the pros? Incredible flavor, juicy.

What are the cons? none

Review:

This watermelon flavor reminds me of my childhood in Yakima. We have a similar growing climate where I live currently, high desert. We got a heavy monsoon season in August, and this vine went crazy in our raised bed. We waited and waited and waited to harvest this first one, which we did today, 9/16...it was worth the wait, and prompted this review. Sweet, juicy, with large seeds to save (best flavor around the seeds!) and have spitting distance contests with, crisp flesh, a lovely surprising yellow. I rated early maturity at 3.0, not knowing what "early" comprises...early for who? Not early enough for me, I wanted to harvest as soon as the first melon got big, but gardening is patience. So I don't know how to rate early. The thick rind kept it from splitting in the monsoon season. Delicious. Eyeballing the next one and hoping for a long warmish Fall and a late frost.

What are the pros? grew well in heat

What are the cons? melons are somewhat small

Review:

Out of the four watermelon varieties I am growing this year, these did the best. This summer has been extremely hot and dry for the southwest, at least here in El Paso, with many days exceeding 105 degrees. This variety grew well in the heat and has produced copious quantities of melons. They have also done well in our slightly ammended heavy clayy soil, which has wrecked havoc with other plants. Overall the best watermelon we have grown.

Review:

The kids loved the candy like flavor. Mine were very very sweet. I think I prefer rattlesnake variety for the refreshing quality, however these make for a mean watermelon margarita:)
