(C. sulphureus) Beautiful and tasty. Popular in Indonesian cuisine and is used as a garnish. The lovely 3” flowers are bright yellow and orange; this variety blooms over a long season and is very colorful.

What are the pros? Delicate looking but hardy

What are the cons? What's to dislike

Review:

I super loved these! They grew slow and steady for me but that's just how things grow here in kentucky. Not like florida.I found them tall and stunning, they made an attractive salad add on. I keep trying to top the pretty salads I make every year. It's been alot of fun buying from you guys . You have great germination rates, and a big selection.

What are the cons? None!

Review:

I planted 12 Indonesian Kennikura seeds as soon as they arrived in early March, and had a 100% germination rate. By the end of the month, they were only 3 inches tall, and had one tiny bud on each one. I was dissapointed at first because the first tiny flower bloomed, and then they just sat there... for weeks! One day I was tired of them taking up bed space and was about to pull them up, when I noticed they were starting to sprout a few tiny new shoots, and so I thought, why don't I give them another few weeks... I'm sure glad that I did! Those new shoots quickly grew into large, 3 foot tall plants, and are now, three months later, still covered in beautiful huge blooms with no signs of slowing down! You will not be disappointed!

What are the pros? ez, yum, fun, prolific

What are the cons? n/a

Review:

Easy to grow. Delicious. Blooms all season. Coolest seed pods ever! They look like bursting fireworks and are easy to collect. Delicious flowers that are great in salads and always a crowd pleaser! The plant is large, but it is not bushy. From a distance it looks like it has flowers that seem to just float above the leaves. It could definitely be planted in front of plants that are the same size and still look good.

Planted these in mid-August in hot summer heat. They came up within weeks and are still blooming in mid-September. Great flower for south Florida. I am ordering another packet.

What are the pros? Fast, easy, pretty flowers

What are the cons? Leaf appearance & taste.

Review:

We planted these in a raised box on March 10. On April 23, we already have 3 pretty flowers with many more clearly ready to blossom. They are in full sun and watered daily. I don't care for their appearance. Sort of shaggy and thin looking, not what I had hoped for. The flowers are pretty, reminiscent of Black Eyed Susans. My kids and I tried a flower today. Bitter and gross. Not sure how these are edible, unless we need to wait a little longer. I will try a tasting again in a few days. I will probably put the leftover seeds at the front of my house for some nice color, but I won't be buying any more.
