80-90 days. Attractive tomatoes are the shape and size of a Bartlett pear with a beautiful purplish-brick color; the fruit are perfect and smooth with no cracks. The flavor is absolutely sublime, having all the richness of fine chocolate. This was our heaviest producer for 2004. The plants produced loads of fruit all summer long. It has become a favorite with many seed savers and we are glad to be able to offer such a colorful variety. It is believed to have come from Russia, so don't ask me about the name!

What are the pros? Strong producer and great tast

What are the cons? None

Review:

I agree with most of what the other reviews said. The one piece of information I want to add is that I grew them in Minnesota where some tomatoes just don't do well. The BJT did fantastic. This year Minnesota threw a variety of conditions at us from cold and damp to hot and dry. This tomato did great and was the second variety out of eight to ripen fruit in my garden. I would recommend this variety to anyone.

What are the pros? Flavor, Appearance

What are the cons? None

Review:

I grew 80 different varieties of tomatoes this year (nearly all of them from Baker Creek). Many of the varieties were fantastic but my husband and I agreed that the Trifele's were the best of all. It's intensely tomatoey, acidic but not sour, and just the right amount of sweetness (we hate overly sweet tomatoes). Next year, I'm going to plant an entire row with the Trifele's. These would be an excellent canning tomato.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

Review:

This variety has been in our garden for several years and you just can't beat them. Delicious and easy to grow with a prolific harvest. We live in hot humid weather and these just keep producing, often for a couple months. You just can't beat this variety.

What are the pros? Amazing Flavor, beautiful colo

What are the cons? Late for us

Review:

Two years ago we were not successful with the seedlings. This past year we planted them again based on reviews. They were later for us, but, so were most of the tomatoes this year. The flavor is amazing, the color is unique and beautiful. This tomato is on our permanent grow list for sure. We do a production garden that feeds lower income families and teaches families how to grow in the Rocky Mountains. This tomato was always the first to go from the basket of produce. Yum. Yum. Yum

What are the pros? Everything

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

Beautiful to look at, wonderful deep flavor, nice texture, easy to grow, and prolific. This is my first year ever with a "real" garden (not just a few herb pots on my porch) and my first time growing tomatoes from seed. I'm growing 9 varieties and this is my favorite full-sized tomato. I hope to have it in my garden every year.
