Howdy, howdy folks!
It's time again for
SPRING PLANTIN' FESTIVAL!
This year, the SPRING PLANTIN' FESTIVAL is happenin' on Sunday and Monday, May 6 and 7 (At the usual location in Mansfield, Missouri, of course). Hours are 10:00am-7:00pm both days! Admission is only $5 for an adult, parking and kids 16 and under are FREE!
Here's a down-home gardener-gander at some of the events you, your friends, and kin can expect when you arrive:
WILLIAM WOYS WEAVER, a huge favorite of heirloom gardeners, will be speakin' and tellin' stories 'bout how you and yorn can grow all sorts of wunnerful fruit and vegetables in your garden. Weaver's book , 'bout growing heirloom vegetables, will be available for folks wantin' to grow vegetables the 'nachral way'. Weaver's family has been busy over many years collectin' heirloom seeds, growin' heirloom seeds and generally showin' folks that vegetable gardenin' is a purdy easy thing to master. (Take a gander at BAKER CREEK'S WILLIAM WOYS WEAVER ROUGHWOOD COLLECTION to enjoy a few of the Heirloom seeds that'll be available at BAKER CREEK'S SPRING PLANTIN' FESTIVAL.)
KEVIN FORTEY 'll add a little more wisdom to your gardenin' know-how. He's comin' all the way outta England, no less, to tell folks how he and his family have set world records growing GIGANTIC vegetables and such. Seems KEVIN'S dad, MIKE, decided one day that he wanted to grow huge vegetables...and thus began the tale of a family that currently holds two Guinness Book of World Records, includin' a 2015 record for the world's longest radish – measurin' some 88 inches in length! Don't pay no mind to the smaller stuff KEVIN and his family grow, like 1200lb pumpkins or another WORLD RECORD for growin' a CHILI that weighed a woppin' three-quarters of a pound!
