What are the pros? First to develop

What are the cons? 1/2 cup seeds in first pumpkin

Review:

I planted these at the earliest recommended date for my area, zone 8b Texas. The squash was the first to ripen out of six varieties of pumpkins. The seeds are good roasted but almost too light and airy without much substance to them. The seeds were easy to harvest with very little “guts” stuck to them. The fruit is beautiful. The chickens seemed to really like the raw flesh which is a pale color. I probably will not plant again because there just were not enough seeds for the effort.

What are the pros? The seeds are delicious

What are the cons? Seeds don't keep

Review:

These squash's seeds are delicious and hassle-free. I will grow them every year, but will have to isolate plants and hand pollinate for the next year's seeds. When I tried to use my 1 year-old seeds I got zip. Probably because of the hull-less seeds. Oh, well. Now I know,... and you do, too. Did not care for the flesh, it was bland and kinda watery, but the seeds will motivate me to keep this gem around the garden for good. I have seen pictures of an "Oil-seed squash" from the Balkans that looks just like Kakai and is grown hull-less to help with the crushing. Have not yet found a source.

What are the pros? tasty and sweet, yummy seeds

What are the cons? Wish it had more seeds.

Review:

I purchased this pumpkin at a harvest festival farm near Medford Oregon. I cut it into quarters, extracted the yummy seeds and roasted the flesh for about an hour. The flesh was very moist and a little stringy but after roasting scooped out off shell easily. It was slightly sweet, a slightly greenish orange color. I did not add any water as it was plenty moist. I processed the flesh to a smooth puree and made a delicious Thai pumpkin peanut soup, (3 chili's!) I have frozen the remaining puree for more yummy things. After the seeds were dried a little on a baking sheet, I roasted them with a little olive oil and salt. My husband and i ate them all right out of the oven. They were delicious! I will be looking to find the seed to grow in my garden next year or heading back to the farm to buy some next year..

What are the pros? Good looking Pumpkin

What are the cons? none

Review:

I started these inside and moved them out 2 weeks later in May and they took off! When I had 3 well started pumpkins on each plant I started harvesting the immature fruit and eating them like summer squash. Fantastic! When summer wound down I harvested all my pumpkins and stored them in a cool closet in the garage. Made the most wonderful jack-o-lanterns ever, and the seeds are super yummie.

What are the pros? Versatile

Review:

Great pumpkin beautiful different and no nasty hulls. I do feel like there was less seeds then other pumpkin it's size but maybe it's simply the lack of the extra mass from the hulls. Great seeds and while the flesh is stringy still edible. Will grow again.
