What are the pros? Tasty & Nutritious
What are the cons? Difficult Transplant
This is the second year I grew this melon (unfortunately the first year was a bust due to certain bugs) and this time around the plant did great!
I originally had six plants which I found out do not like the wind. After transplanting outdoors the wind demolished several of them that I had tressed up but one survived and grew great and produced at least 10 fruit and that was with crowding from regular cucumbers. So, I would advise letting the plant get established before trying to get it to climb.
Beware of this spikes and prickles that this thing produces and give it a fair bit of space. Once mine established it grew rather nicely up and around a curved fence. I put cucumbers on the other side of the curve but I wish I had just grown the melon there.
This fruit is fun, yummy, and has an awesome shelf life. I highly recommend if you have the space or want to grow it vertically. * 2 Thumbs Up*
