What are the pros? Grows exceptionally well

What are the cons? Invasive

Review:

This plant grew in our dry desert climate exceptionally well and it reseeded itself and came back the next year and has grown to 3-1/2 feet tall without me watering it. It has taken over half the large herb garden in its second year here. The tea I made from it has a mint/licorice/pine taste, and my best description of it would be it tastes like drinking mouthwash. My brain can’t handle that flavor, lol.

What are the pros? High germination rates

What are the cons? nothing yet

Review:

Balms have always been slow to grow, at least in my experience. They germinated in 6 days, and I'm seeing right at around a 93% germination rate, which is nice. I'm hoping that these are all big enough to transplant outside once the weather finally permits. They already have that familiar lemony scent.

What are the pros? Bees love it!

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is a great plant to have in the garden. I bought my seeds a few years ago, sowed them outside between my potted vegetables in less-than-perfect soil, and they come back every year and even increase. The flowers are lovely and delicate. All types of pollinators love them, and here in NC, although we've had our share of freezing weather, it hasn't discouraged them from already getting a strong start in late February. I plan to dig some up to share with my sister who lives in Georgia!

What are the pros? Easy to grow, beautiful

What are the cons? none

Review:

I am so glad that I grew this Lemon Bee Balm! It's beautiful, required no extra effort, behaved itself and made my honeybees SO happy. It did come up and mature a little later than I anticipated but that turned into a blessing. In the dead heat of the summer the honeybees and bumble bees were thrilled to have a welcoming plant to visit.

What are the pros? GORGEOUS and good smelling

What are the cons? late to come up?

Review:

I planted a variety of things from seed this year, and most everything had come up and was blooming when this creepy little fellow emerged. I almost pulled it up, but I noticed that there were a few more like it in a pattern more like a row, so I let it grow. The taller it grew, the more beautiful it became, and I thought I had planted some kind of green flower, because I WOULD NOT for the life of me remember what I'd planted in that space! Once the flower began turning purple, I was just FLOORED. I ran back through all of my empty packages and finally found one with a picture that matched--so I HAD planted it on purpose! Even better--there were still some more seeds in it for NEXT year! It was a late and slow bloomer, but it has been a lovely delayed treat for the bees as some of the earlier blooms have begun falling back. I am hoping to have enough of them to add to my tea cabinet this fall, and will definitely be planting this one for the forseeable future.
