What are the pros? tasty, beautiful, not bitter
What are the cons? other varieties more prolific
Not as prolific as other varieties I grew in summer 2016. No bitterness, though I always try to pick eggplants on the small size to avoid seedy, bitter fruits. I refuse to brine my eggplants. The plants and fruit were so beautiful I would consider planting Listada De Grandia in the front yard with the ornamental plants. I planted the seeds inside in mid-February. At the same time I started tomatoes and peppers and discovered the eggplants and peppers need more heat than the tomatoes. Listada De Grandia followed a purple vetch cover crop. I did not spray any insecticide, fertilize, or notice any insect damage. We had some very hot days in June, over 100 F, and the eggplants enjoyed the heat.
