50 days. Very small, green, romaine-type. One of the very best-tasting lettuces. A superb heat-tolerant variety that is sure to please!

Review:

What a perfect little plant. Very much a gem. I grew about five different lettuces this year. a mix of romaines/ cos and butterhead from Baker Creek. All of my lettuces did/ are still doing exceptionally well, no issues at all, but LIttle Gem is my favorite (unless I'm making lettuce wraps, leaves are too small/ snappy stems for that). Has a great crunch and I love harvesting these as a whole head. I find the texture and flavor is best when matured fully and not as a baby green. Very crispy, succulent, mild romaine but not boring like an iceberg. Less bitter than other romaines I've grown. It's perfect with a Cesar or other creamy dressing. In the garden, the compact size and upright habit make it perfect for close planting, or staggering with more unruly lettuces and larger plants. I currently have some inter-planted with my peppers and tomatoes, where they benefit from a little shade in the height of summer.

I planted some indoors 1-18-19. It is amazing! 5 weeks later I am eating salads from it as it continues to grow indoors. Can't plant out for 6-7 more weeks. I wish there was a way to post a pic here!

Tasty little lettuces. Mild flavor that the kids liked. Came up fast and then I planted more and they came up and so on. Good in salad or on a burger.

Review:

This is the first seed review I've ever written, but feel compelled! I've never had luck with lettuce before but this stuff has been amazing. Easy to grow and delicious, great yields. So beautifully bright green. Honestly, the photos here don't do it justice. Somehow the slugs haven't touched it either, which is a miracle in my garden. I'm growing it next to strawberries, cilantro and baby bok. All seem very happy together. My ducks also love the stuff :)

What are the pros? Everything

What are the cons? No complaints

Review:

This lettuce is perfect and will be a staple in my cool weather garden every year. So compact I feel like you could grow a ton of these in a small space, and they grow pretty quickly. I didn't find them as heat tolerant as other Romaine varieties (began to bolt around 85?), but I can't complain and will just be growing LOTS of these this fall-spring.
