70 days. An innovative hypertendril snap pea bred by Dr. Alan Kapular PhD. Hypertendril plants make enlarged tendrils in place of some leaves. The tendrils make for a more open habit, allowing better air flow and reducing diseases. And they are also great to eat! They are wonderful in salads or as a garnish, and they taste just like peas! Sturdy 5-6’ plants are very productive. The plants yield deliciously sweet snap peas for weeks. Vigorous vines produce bi-color flowers. Flavor peaks just before the string turn red.

What are the pros? THEY DON'T DIE!

What are the cons? N/A

Review:

I had given up growing peas... they would always die before I could get much of anything from them... I gave these peas one last chance...and they are EXCELLENT!! I didn't get a whole lot off them (approx. 30 plants plants... but they are in large pots, so they kept getting dry... The tendrils are tasty, the peas are incredibly sweet, and even the pods my daughter eats!! the pods are failrly small, but worthwhile growing!

What are the pros? Pretty.

What are the cons? None really.

Review:

They are pretty plants. The tendrils are a novelty. But they didn't tolerate heat any better than regular Sugar Snaps. They taste good, but not quite as sweet as Sugar Snaps. I'll just stick to regular Sugar Snaps. No real advance to these peas other than the pretty tendrils and blossoms.

What are the pros? Sturdy plants, prolific

What are the cons? Underwhelming flavor

Review:

I’ve had great luck getting these peas to grow, and the plants are a beauty to look at! They’re nice and strong, have all outgrown their trellises, and produce prolific amounts of peas as well as the tendrils (best picked young, for maximum tenderness). Unfortunately, the ones I planted this year have not tasted like much of anything, even once very filled out. This is in sharp contrast to the Sugar Ann peas I planted fewer of, but which have had an incredible sweet flavor. I’ll try again with a few more in my later planting but next year will likely retire this variety except as an ornamental, for which it had been truly exceptional. It is a gorgeous plant.

What are the pros? Long producing through heat

What are the cons? Not as sweet as some varieties

Review:

I was very impressed with this strain! We have had the summer from hell here in NW New Jersey but these are still producing through heat, drought, and flood! They are still producing in mid August. All other peas have long since dried up and gone to the great compost heap in the sky....
