A super long carrot from Japan. Manpukuji is descended from the ancient Japanese long carrot types of the Edo period. This variety is sweet, especially when harvested after fall frost. Traditionally served as ‘Namasu’ (grated carrot salad) for Japanese New Year celebrations. Also an incredible snacking carrot, ideal for fresh eating. Roots easily reach over 2 feet in length when grown in the right soil. A fantastic choice for market or giant vegetable growers; sure to be a hit at your county fair!

What are the pros? Excellent Flavor - Very Long!

What are the cons? None

Review:

I started these on March17th under a covered raised bed that we built double height for potatoes and carrots. Yesterday I pulled up a plant that was growing to close to another one. It was already 10 inches long. Very sweet, and straight carrot with excellent flavor. I know that these will mature faster now that it is warmer so I am planting another bed full of these. Make sure your soil is loose and deep enough for these plants for better results. I'll be growing these every season from here on out.
