What are the pros? Most any soil

What are the cons? Excess Summer heat

Review:

These are beautifully blooming plants, lovely flowers, and with a delicate, exquisite fragrance. They will grow in just about any soil. They are easy to grow, produce masses of fragrant blossoms, and will reseed themselves aggressively. They will grow back from tubers the next year, and the plants that grow from tubers are even bigger than the ones from seed. Sadly, they will not thrive in excessive heat. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and our summer temps exceed 110 degrees on a regular basis. This will kill these plants. The few plants that survive seem to be stunted to the point that they never recover. On the positive side, we can make late summer or early fall plantings, and those will grow and bloom into the fall and early winter. We don't always get killing frosts, and so it is possible for them to survive the winter and continue to grow into the spring until the summer heat kills them.

What are the pros? Grew well, season-long blooms

What are the cons? None

Review:

I loved these four o'clocks in my garden. The plants stayed compact but produced loads of blooms all the way to frost. I planted small seedlings in a thick clump of daffodils, and not only did they survive, but they thrived and bloomed great. A wonderful flowering annual to interplant with your spring bulbs before they go dormant, with beautiful colors. Quite carefree as well; just water them and keep weeds down. The only problem was a couple of plants contracted a disease, but that may well have been my fault. The Baker Creek seeds sprouted well and healthy and grew fast. What's more, these four o'clocks produced lots of seeds, well repaying my seed investment. A great plant at a great price; highly recommend! I will definitely plant these beauties again!
