What are the pros? easy to grow

What are the cons? space hog

Review:

These were easy to start under grow lights, and grew really well, too well, taking the recent heat wave like a champ. However, they take up a LOT of real estate. I had some of these planted in front of my peppers in a raised bed and they took over. I just pulled a bunch out of that bed and am going to just stick with what I have in the ground. The ground cherries have a nice flavor, subtly sweet with an umami finish, but there isn't really much you can do with them other than snack while in the garden, I guess because they are called ground cherries I thought they would spend low but they were almost like okra in the shrub-mounding habit. Description said they hover only a few inches off the ground....not even close. At least 18" high and 24" wide early in the season. Great plant but I probably won't grow them again, as my limited bed space means I need to stick with things I can cook with.

What are the pros? easy to grow

What are the cons? none

Review:

These seeds have taken about 8-10 days in a warm place(70-80) to get started. Once they establish they take off and start producing lots of fruits quickly. Mine are still in 16oz cups under a grow light and already have 5-10 fruits after about 8-10 weeks. Moved one plant to a grow bag and it's really taken off, looking forward to harvesting lots of cherries. Took pics but don't see any way to show them.

Is it Cossacks Pineapple
Easy to Grow 5.0

What are the pros? Mighty mini.

What are the cons? Very low.

Review:

From the description provided, it has all the characteristics of the Cossack’s Pineapple variety I have been growing. I thought I must have done something wrong when it began flowering at 2 inches tall under my growlights, and grew into a vast spreading super-low plant. Either the original grower and l got our seeds from the same source and we have ‘atypical’ seeds .... or all Cossacks are this way. Either way, it’s performance and flavour and appearance was a garden delight. But .... When my seeds overwintered, l noticed the next generation wasn’t as low or as productive ... so I wonder if it has a genetic response to being started in pots and then transplanted, which creates the size and production difference. It’s worth experimenting with this cultivar

Review:

So far this ground cherry is doing awesome in my garden. Started indoors 4 weeks before last frost. By the time of hardening off they were already flowering and getting small lil husks. Since then the plants are taking off many lil husks on all plants. Super good germination, and grows fast.
