85-90 days. Local selection of Kolb’s Gem, reputed to be even bigger and sweeter! Our foundation seed was a gift from Edsel Cliburn of Union, Mississippi, and is particularly recommended to our customers in the Deep South.

What are the pros? Good yield of good size fruit

What are the cons? Mealy flesh, seedy

Review:

This watermelon did very well for me in 2017. It out yielded every other watermelon, but the fruits were somewhat mealy and seedy. In terms of yield, I will grow this again, but for flavor, I will grow Ali Baba or Crimson Sweet.

What are the pros? delicious, easy to grow

What are the cons? none

Review:

I grew 7 varieties of watermelons this year and this was by far the best one. Even when it's not quite ripe, it still tastes good, whereas the others did not. My biggest one so far weighed just under 15 pounds. I had no problems with bugs or diseases with any of my watermelons. These grew well during our very hot, humid summer and only 2 split when we had a heavy downpour. I'm thinking about only planting this variety next year.

A gold standard watermelon

What are the pros? Everything

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

A gold standard watermelon. Large, productive, sweet, crisp, dense flesh and healthy plants. The Mississippi Cobb Gem has it all. We grew the Gem, Stone Mountain, and the Jubilee bush this year. The later two were both excellent but the Cobb Gem out-shined them both. This melon will not disappoint. We're starting to think, why grow anything else?
