(Numex) A colorful new “heirloom” introduced by New Mexico State Univeristy. This vibrant, tangerine-orange variety was bred using natural backcrossing techniques, resulting in an extra rich tasting and super eye-catching fruit. The NuMex series was created in response to Americans’ increasing appreciation for eating a rainbow of nutrition. Super ornamental and extremely prolific, these have a wonderful fruity-citrus taste and are packed with nutrition, and are only moderately spicy.

What are the pros? Germinates well, easy to grow

What are the cons? Very spicy

Review:

Got these because they were advertised as only moderately spicy. That was not my experience. These were the hottest jalepenos I've ever tasted. And it wasn't just me - I brought a bunch to work, and my coworkers agreed. Are they as hot as a really spicy pepper? Of course not, but one doesn't grow jalepenos expecting scotch bonnet heat, you know? So, they were easy to grow, but I won't be trying them again, as I can't use them as I intended.

What are the pros? easy, prolific, pretty, Spicy

What are the cons? none so far!

Review:

Really pretty when you let them get orange! The seeds were really easy to start. I had better germination with these then the Pumpkin Spice, Lemon Spice, Black Hungarian and even a little better then the Craig Jalapeno. As far as heat, I think they are just a little less hot than a jalapeno a little less hot than I expected. That is just fine with me! I put thin slices of them on Bree cheese on top of a corn chip. YUM! Great in my yellow tomato fresh salsa. These are on my favorite list!
