Ordering Info / Return Policy

Along with all of you, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company is confronting the disruptions of daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are experiencing a very heavy volume of seed orders at the very time we have scaled back our operations and staffing to ensure the health and well being of our employees, our customers, and the community at large. A percentage of our staff members are working from home. Others who have underlying health conditions or who are otherwise at high risk if they contract the coronavirus are at home on paid leave. Our seed stores in Petaluma, Ca. and Mansfield, Mo. are closed until further notice. We have cancelled our spring festivals for April and May. Our farm is closed to visitors. Customer support by phone is not available at this time, out of an abundance of caution for our employees’ health and safety. We encourage you to email seeds@rareseeds.com with any questions about your seed orders.


We also ask that you allow an additional 7 days for your seed orders to arrive. Trust that our remaining crew here on our Mansfield, Mo. farm is diligently working to deliver your orders — and we are here to support your gardening. All of us are healthy and doing well, and we hope and pray for your health and safety, too.

RETURN POLICY/Terms and Conditions

All orders are shipped by the U.S. Postal Service, DHL, or FedEx. Estimated time until shipping (amount of time between when you place your order and when it is shipped) is usually 1 to 3 business days, though it is our goal to ship orders within 48 hours.

We guarantee your satisfaction on all seeds and products for 2 years from the date of purchase. Seeds are also guaranteed to grow true to type. We generally will not require you to send back your purchase for a replacement or refund. In some cases with larger orders and/or expensive items we may request you return them before we issue a refund/replacement. All products are only eligible for an exchange or refund up to the purchase price of the item.

We are not responsible for return shipping costs. We are in no way responsible for crop failures, insects, disease, floods, drought, terrorism and acts of God.  

We will never sell or give away your information. However, we may contact you at any time in the future.

We reserve the right to refuse service because of fraud or for any other reason we deem necessary.

When ordering by mail or fax, cut the order form out of the catalog and fill it out or write your order on a sheet of paper with your name, address, and phone number. Please include item numbers on seed orders. They are listed right after the variety name, e.g. Roma tomato is #TM110. This will help us get your order to you quickly.

Mansfield Missouri Seed Store: 8 am to 4 pm CDT, Sunday through Friday. Closed Saturday and holidays.  We have a festival on the first Sunday of the month March through October.  Store hours on those days will be 10 am to 5 pm.

Payment Methods:

We accept Checks, Money Orders, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Cash in both U.S. and international funds (If mailing/faxing your order and paying by credit card, please write card number, 3 digit number on back of card, and expiration date on your order.) as well as Paypal (when ordering online).

Note: Orders cannot be shipped until payment has been received by Baker Creek.

USA, Canada, and Mexico shipping:

We are now offering FREE year-round standard shipping on all North American orders!

Notice: We are no longer able to change orders once they have been placed, due to multiple people and departments that work to finish each order. Orders are printed shortly after we receive them, and go into the fulfillment stage. If we happen to be out of an item, we will send you a refund unless we are planning to receive the item in the very near future.

Sales Tax:

  • California customers: Please add 8.00% for all products except gift certificates, and vegetable and herb seeds, which are non-taxable.
  • Missouri customers: Please add sales tax to all orders.  Effective 10-1-17, Vegetable and Herb seeds are 3.1%.  All other items are 6.1%, except for gift certificates, which are non-taxable.
  • Connecticut customers, please add 6.35% for all products except vegetable and herb seeds, which are non-taxable.
  • Florida customers: Please add 6.00% for products except for vegetable and herb seeds, which are non-taxable.
  • Other geographic areas are not subject to sales tax.

International Customers:

The shipping charge for international orders is 20% of the order, with a $5.00 minimum.  Processing of International orders may be delayed if your country requires additional documentation.  Once your order ships, it could take up to 3-4 weeks to arrive, which we have no control over, as it depends on how long it takes the order to clear customs in your country.  International customers are responsible for checking with their local customs office to see what is, and is not permitted to be shipped to their area.  We are not responsible, and cannot refund for seeds that are confiscated, destroyed, or returned by customs. You are also responsible for all taxes or customs your country may levy.  Due to shipping restrictions, Baker Creek Seed Collections are limited to USA customers only. 

We are unable to obtain phytosanitary certificates from the USDA at this time due to our seeds being untreated and untested.  The testing needed by a lot of countries requires a large amount of seed, which generally takes the entire lot sent to us by our growers, which means we would have none left to sell.

Flower, garlic and onion bulbs, as well as live plants, cannot be shipped outside of the U.S.

New Zealand customers: You need to email the Border Clearance services with the list of seeds you want to purchase (with full scientific name genus and species) before you order to find out if the seeds are allowed in your area without a phytosanitary certificate. We are also being told by customers in Switzerland: from 1st January 2020, imports of seeds and plants are subject to CITES certification and which must accompany the goods(which we do not have). If there is not a fine is issued.

UK customers are reporting that beans, tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers and corn are being confiscated and destroyed - these are listed on the government website so they were pretty strict.



The average time to receive your order in the U.S. is between 7 to 10 days after receipt of your order with payment within the U.S.
