A lovely red and white mottled balsam variety that really makes a beautiful statement in the garden. Splashy color over a long period on upright 2’ tall lovely plants. Fast blooming direct from seed.

What are the pros? Beautiful, easy to grow

What are the cons? None

Review:

I started these from seed inside and all the seeds sprouted. They are great for container growing too. Too much sun dried them out, but I moved them to a slightly shady spot and gave them some fish emulsion fertilizer and they bounced back. I will definitely plant these again!

What are the pros? Tenacious, Beautiful

What are the cons? None

Review:

I didn't know what to expect when I planted these--I was shocked at how big they were! They were like little palm trees. My husband playfully popped open some seed pods for a while...only to find later that the plants were popping up everywhere! If the wind blew one over, you could see it trying to stand back up again. Very tenacious plants. We have laid back bees around here but they became somewhat pushy around these flowers. My only advice is to keep them out of a high traffic area. We had ours in the front bed by the driveway and the bees would get up in our face or swarm around us to see what we were doing if we got anywhere near the flowers. We didn't get stung and were amused by it all but I could see it being a problem with children and pets. Also, the plants get big and can blow over so keep that in mind if you live in a windy area.

What are the cons? Noty a one

Review:

I have had these in my rock garden, on my front deck and they are always complimented extensively. In the shade in a pot with access to water, this year they are 3.5 feet or more tall. Lovely I will continue to plant these annually.

What are the pros? Beautiful & unique

What are the cons? none

Review:

These are beautiful, just like the pictures. I started these indoors then moved these to my raised beds. It has been a dry summer and I have very limited access to water so flowers rarely get extra watering. Most things in my garden have to be able to survive on rain. These have done very well. I will definitely plant them again.
