What are the pros? Great taste and pretty leaves.

What are the cons? Small heads (my fault)

I am NOT an experienced gardener but I put a bunch of plants in the ground to see what they'd do. I had some rat tail radishes in one row and they had a nice and cool little space under their branches that I nestled these cabbage seedlings into in mid summer. They were pretty shaded most of the time but when fall rolled around and temps cooled off they started growing bigger, no head at this time. I cleaned up the garden in late fall and the radishes were pulled but I left the cabbage just to see what they would do. In December after a few snow falls and melts these plants looked dead but I checked them one last time. They had softball sized heads tucked into their dead leaves. I chopped em up, cooked them with some garlic...BESTEST CABBAGES EVEAH! They had a sweet & complex flavor. Kids devoured it all! I got these from barley amended clay soil. No fertilizer and no mulches, only drip irrigation. This year I'm planting more and making the soil better but I'll let them freeze up again.
