Piment Jaune Sucree Sweet Pepper

1 Review | Write a Review
This rare early American pepper from the French Caribbean is a type of Cayenne without heat. It appears to be a selection of M’Mahon’s circa 1800 “long orange” as listed in his early 1800s Philadelphia seed catalogs. Our seed descended in the family of Dr. George Thomas (1808-1887), a Quaker botanist in Pennsylvania. The plants produce 2 ½ to 3 foot bushes yielding an abundance of late-season 3 ½ inch golden yellow pods. Perfect for pickling!

What are the pros? Easy to grow, Heavy Producer

What are the cons? Thin flesh

These aren't particularly "meaty" peppers, but they make up for it in abundance and gorgeous color. Compact plants performed well in 3-5 gallon pots. Easy, low-maintenance plants with versatile, lightly sweet, non-spicy peppers. Does well in heat.
