BIG and BEAUTIFUL describes this gorgeous poppy selected by Paul Wicklund of Northwoods Seeds in Mead Washington. Paul reports that it is not only attractive to humans but the bees love it - perhaps more than any poppy he's ever grown. The large, 4-inch flowers grow on 3 to 5 foot tall plants with erect stems.
Poppies can be direct seeded onto the surface of loose, moist soil either in early fall or spring. Gently tamp the seeds to lodge them so they are not washed nor blown away.
