An old traditional heirloom, this gourmet variety is highly esteemed in Europe for its delicious stems with rose-colored buds that can be blanched white. Produces well in our Missouri gardens.

What are the pros? Great germination, fun

What are the cons? None

Review:

I’m took a runner on asparagus seeds because it will be about 3 years until we can eat any and they need a dedicated patch but I’m so happy I did. The germination rate was wild - pretty sure every seed did its magic thing. This gave me way more seedlings than I expected. Started the seeds in Jan and got them into their patch in April. The teeny tiny asparagus spears are so cute. They are doing well - I’ll update as we go but so far so great

I only planted them this summer so I haven't seen yet how they will do. I think all the seeds I planted germinated.

What are the cons? Too good to cook ;)

Review:

Received the Precoce D'Argenteuil Asparagus seeds in 2014, separated one clump into three in 2016, gave away one bunch, grew the other two in a different location in my yard, eating the larger spears as they came up (raw), and have moved them again, separated into 16 individual crowns (they weren't as productive in the second zone) and they are already sending up new spears.. This asparagus is delicious and I can't think of any reason why I would cook them. The new planting space is designed for them to spread out even more, for years to come. Have Mary Washington Asparagus on the way and look forward to comparing, though I think the Precoce D'Argenteuil Asparagus will be my favorite.

What are the pros? Very Hardy

What are the cons?

Review:

The only down fall with growing asparagus from seed is that it does obvious take a while to get big. Like years. But what can you do lol. Anyways I just wanted to say that this plant surprised me coming back this year. Where I live, winters reach -40 Celsius so this plant is very hardy. Of course I planted it as a seedling and didn’t think it’s frail structure would survive but sure enough it did. It seems almost without any problems at all. Try it out!

Review:

I ordered and planted these 2 years ago, and every seed came up! I had surgery, and all my seedlings died before I got home. I just planted them again this spring. The package says 75 seeds. My packages had 150 seeds.
