100 days. The standard, giant flat cabbage that is good for storage. 10 to 15-lb heads are of high quality with delicious flavor. This heirloom was introduced by European settlers in the 1860’s.

Review:

Give this cabbage plenty of room....at the least, twenty inches in all directions. For the largest heads fertilize well...composted manure is best.. Great keeper and for Kraut.

What are the pros? Great over all cabbage

What are the cons? none

Review:

I grow this cabbage every year, at least 2 dozen heads, I make my own sauerkraut. This is the best cabbage for that. Very easy to grow in all types of soil. I just put the seed in the soil, I never started this indoors, but come September, October its ready to go.

What are the pros? HUGE!

What are the cons? Cabbage Moths

Review:

This cabbage grows to unbelievable sizes in good soil. I started seeds indoors, then transplanted as early as I could. The plants were very tolerant of the early spring cold weather (wet snows and light frost), and the heads ...just..keep..growing! I harvested the last monster in November, and have been fond of boiling the finely cut cabbage in bacon (with some grease), olive oil, x2 bay leaves and 1 bottle of beer! I had some issues with cabbage moths this year, and hope to remedy the issue next season with a chili powder garlic spray.
