Bush, 55 days. Here’s a spectacular offering from plant breeder, the late Robert Lobitz. Gorgeous violet-purple, flat to slightly round pods are very well flavored. Bush plants show a slight tendency to run; staking is not required but this trait makes them super productive over a long season. Seeds are a lovely violet-color too! Pkt $3.50

What are the pros? Prolific, size of the beans

What are the cons? Pick it before it's hard

Review:

I planted two varieties of beans (1 yellow and this purple variety). In the yellow variety, only one plant grew while the purple variety grew about 8-10 plants. The flavor is just like a bean bought at the grocery but the size is longer. Be careful, if you leave the bean on the plant for too long, it gets fibrous and starchy. Also, I had a problem with black flee beetles and the beans suffered from it a little but still produced A LOT of healthy beans. I'm definitely trying again next year!

What are the pros? strong plant

What are the cons? The pod skin is a bit tough

Review:

I tried Purple Dove Bush Beans last year and was not disappointed. However, I noticed the germination rate was lower than the other bush beans varieties I planted. Out out a dozen beans of Purple Dove, less than four germinated. In the end all plants were healthy, and they produced a good amount of beans from August to late October. As for the taste, the pods are good to eat but less tender than expected. I did not like them raw. Once cooked, they are ok.

Review:

These beans quickly became one of our favorites after just one season planting. They are a prolific very high yielding bean with excellent flavor. They are a very flavorful and tender bean and our whole family loved them. Will def. be on our regular planting schedule.
