What are the pros? Colour, Taste

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

Pusa Rudhira, is an improved carrot variety developed and introduced by Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Pusa Rudhira is also nutritionally rich as compared to other carrot varieties. The variety was tested to have higher levels of carotenoid (7.41mg) and phenols (45.15 mg) per 100 g. (Source: CATAT, IARI, New Delhi) Grew these carrots for the first time. Due to space limitations sowed them in the row between the Spinach and Pepper plants ! A little late in planting out but a superb flavour and colour , just like back home in India. Very good for eating raw or saut?ing with potatoes but best in the authentic Carrot Halwa ! Trying to make seeds for next year by planting a few roots in a pot and keeping it now in cold room !

What are the pros? Huge and tasty

What are the cons? You have to be patient

Review:

Up to this point I have had zero luck growing carrots. A few months back I pulled up one or two of the carrots and I was still frustrated with the size and it was intertwined with another carrot which were both super small and thin. Anyways last week I noticed that the carrot tops were laying down.. So I reached in a pulled out of the container a monster of a carrot. I was so amazed at how large it had grown and it took me several minutes of pulling on it to actually get it out of the ground. It lasted me two meals to actually eat the whole carrot and it was super tasty, every bite a pure joy. Thank you Rare Seeds...you guys rocked my taste buds !!

My favorite carrot

What are the pros? Color, texture, sweetness

What are the cons? None

Review:

My favorite carrot---of all time! I sowed these in early August, with excellent germination. The site was a large ridge, carefully probed to remove large rocks/clods; the soil is fairly heavy. I worked a little wood ash and kelp meal into the bed before planting, and the carrots also received one mid-season feeding of liquid kelp. The results were impressive: by mid-October I was harvesting (and am continuing to harvest) large, handsome roots of a pretty light red hue, with little hairiness and few deformities (despite my soil's considerable clay content). Even more important, the flavor is sweet and the texture is superb. Indeed, never have I encountered a more tender carrot. Highly recommended!

What are the pros? Thinnings were delicious!

What are the cons? None so far.

Review:

Now I know you are supposed to thin veggies right away, but I have an infant so I did not get around to thinning these until about 2 months in, ha! The ones we pulled were very good!! No need to peel these babies! I believe we pulled about 20 carrots and they weighed 7.8 oz total. (We weigh all our homegrown produce.) Definitely recommend, can't wait for the rest of them to mature!

What are the pros? Beautiful color

What are the cons? Not as flavorful as oxhearts

Review:

These carrots grew easily in my garden, and I am pleased that they flower in one season so I can actually save seeds from them. They have excellent color, were exceptionally sweet, but didn't have as much flavor as the oxhearts I grew beside them. Still, they are beautiful and were tasty.
