Red Calabash Tomato- A beautiful and unique tomato, introduced by Dr. William Woys Weaver. He acquired this scarce landrace from a Mixtec grower in Oaxaca, Mexico where it is called calabacito rojo. It is an extremely old type illustrated in several European herbals dating from the 1500s. Thus is must be one of the earliest tomatoes introduced to Europe. The fruit is flat and squash-shaped and measures anywhere from 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Highly productive, this 85 day tomato is considered ideal for salsas and juice due to its intense flavor. Indeterminate.
