What are the pros? Beautiful Vine, easy to grow
What are the cons? None
I enjoy growing Red Malabar along my garden fence it does require support once it starts growing. Here in Zone 8 when the vine dies back and the seeds drop they will grow/come back in the Spring. The Green Malabar Spinach leaves are somewhat larger, but the plant is not as attractive as the red. You can easily propagate by taking a healthy cutting and place in water until roots develop and then plant in soil. This is also an excellent plant for an aquaponics or hydroponics set up. The plant leaves when eaten raw have a nice taste when added to salads. I have been growing this for several years now.
