Red Seven Pot Hot Pepper

1 Review | Write a Review
The name reputedly refers to the peppers' outrageous heat, capable of flavoring seven successive pots of chili! Intense heat (upward of 1,000,000 scovilles) and an accompanying fruitiness, characterize this relative of the Scorpions and the Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia). Fruits ripen to a wrinkled, deep red. The shape sometimes, but not always, shows the infamous scorpion "tail." We believe this to be the prized Barrackapore strain, named for a town of the same name in Trinidad, home to so many super-hot pepper varieties. That makes this the original Seven-pot strain. As such, the shape is quite variable. Our foundation seed comes from James Weaver of Kutztown, PA.

What are the pros? Hotter than hell

What are the cons? Hotter than hell

I've grown many varieties of habaneros and assorted hot peppers, and have had many varieties disappoint in their spiciness level(as in not enough). This one did not. Grew 3 plants and all got to be 3' tall, some almost four, and once ripe, I tried a tiny piece...and my mouth was melting for a solid half hour. A serious pepper for the serious spice aficionado. And / or masochists.
