Bush, 56 days. Tender, bright purple pods turn green when cooked. Very ornamental, beautiful and tasty. A good home garden variety.

What are the pros? Extended growing season

What are the cons? None

Review:

Taste, productivity, and beauty are the three things I look for when choosing seeds. The royalty purple bean encompasses all three. Very easy and a fast grower. This bean does not require a trellis but a little support will produce a higher yield. They taste great, are fun to cook, and they are quite exquisite in the garden; a real conversation piece. I love the fact that you cannot miss the pods when harvesting because they are a rich purple color and the blossoms are a lovely lilac. My number one factor is I can grow these for an extended season because they love milder weather as well as moderate heat. I grow starting in April to October in zone 6b.

What are the pros? Beautiful, tasty, easy

What are the cons? Deer LOVE them!

Review:

We have grown these a few years and probably always will based on the beauty of the purple blooms (most beans I have seen have white blooms) and the unbelievably pretty, uniformly-straight purple pods that are totally green inside. They are juicy and sweet, with a nice early old-style flavor like when you worked the bean field with Grandma, but without the stringy, hard pods. I know about green beans, and these purple-skinned treasures are even better than Grandma's. Unfortunately, the deer seem to love them, but our plot did provide protection for the rest of our garden, if anything else. When pickled or cooked, they turn bright green, which is fun for kids... if any make it in the house...

What are the pros? Pretty, easy to grow, & yummy

What are the cons? Short life

Review:

They must like our soil because these beans have been highly productive for us, though the plants do wither after producing. I love how they change color when cooked, so you know when they're done.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, early producer

What are the cons? Low production

Review:

These are beautiful and pack a lot of punch for a small bush. Flavor is great and i have not found a single string! I would say the only drawback for me was they did not produce as much as I would have liked. It may be I am used to the endless supply pole beans provide. Overall a terrific beautiful bean!
