Super dwarf red cosmos! Here’s an outstanding addition to the Cosmos clan—award-winning color on compact plants! The color is the very best of the burgundy-magenta that makes cosmos so endearing in the summer garden—varying tones from medium to super-deep. The single blooms have very wide petals; the overall effect is reminiscent of richly pleated silk. The 18-24” plants are compact, never lanky. Recently recognized with Europe’s Fleuroselect award. Spectacular!

What are the pros? Colors! Short! Grows Well

What are the cons? None

Review:

Of all the Cosmos I grew this year, this is my favorite! So many different shades of burgundy on one bush. The bushes are compact/short and bushy, which I love. Not huge and tall like my Sensation and Versailles variety. Germinates so well. Had no problems with these even though we had challenging conditions (long wet cold winter and slow to warm up this summer). I will always grow these going forward as they are beautiful in any yard. I think they will look amazing as a border plant.

What are the pros? Germinate Well, Short, Flowers

What are the cons? None!

Review:

Fantastic to grow. They are short, and so prolific, and the different shades of color are a joy. I grew 4 types of Cosmos this year - C sulphureaus (Kennikura, from Baker Creek), Sensation Cosmos (from another site, grew 5' tall), Versailles cosmos (from another site, also prolific), and I think these are my favorite because they were so unexpected. They germinated super well, tolerant to a longer than expected and rainy winter and late coming summer. I love that they are short, because my other varieties are so tall they are taking over my garden bed and I will re-think where I plant the Sensation and Versailles next year lol. Because of the different color shades, they go well with many different types of plants. Next year I will grow more of these and plant with shorter flowers so they really shine. In spite of competing with Zinnias, and the other Cosmos, they are doing great.

Review:

These are gorgeous! Deep burgundy/wine red that really stands out in my flower bed. We are 104 degrees today and have been close to it for about a week. They are in the full sun and still looking beautiful. I will grow these every year from now on.

What are the pros? Pretty Color, easy to grow

What are the cons? Very short plant

Review:

Cosmos are always the first bloom. I wanted to go all red this year. They germinated fast enough and are already blooming here in zone 9b. They are really short. The next time around, I will plant a lot of them closer together for a splash of color.

What are the pros? Fast growing

What are the cons? Bloom for about 6 weeks.

Review:

I direct seeded in early may. They sprouted within a few days and grew quickly. They had nice heavy roots, so I dug up and gave away the biggest, making room for the others. They developed buds and bloomed early, mid June. Very pretty color, about two feet tall and bushy. When they finished blooming in late July, I took them out and had time to plant fall Brussels sprouts there. I reccomend for beautiful color and fast, early blooms.
