This unique 19th century French heirloom was introduced to America by C.C. Morse in 1906 under the name “Strawberry Cabbage Lettuce.” The small cabbage or butter-head type plants are quite charming with green leaves that are splashed in scarlet-red as if a red rain fell upon them, glistening and beautiful. Leaves are tender, mild and of a high quality; yummy!

Review:

This is the first lettuce I have grown with success in my garden! The leaves are soft, not bitter and really pretty! The plants were two little leaf sprouts and suddenly beautiful rosettes, and I have much more than I expected to get. We just had two 95 degree days, and they got through it just fine. I've found my favorite!

Review:

Fantastic lettuce looks just like the picture. Makes a loose head with a blanched center. Grew well in hydroponics also. Slugs avoided this and focused on my regular all green butterhead variety. Do try!
