What are the pros? large impressive blooms

What are the cons? picky about conditions

I have grown these marigolds two years in a row. They didn't start well indoors in the spring, and had low germination rate. However, I direct sowed seeds outdoors in summer and a good number of tall, healthy, fast-growing plants. The enjoy hot, dry weather even more than other marigold varieties I have tried, but don't do well in cooler weather. The flowers are huge, about 4 inches across, but look nothing like the picture or description. They look like giant, bright yellow daisies with ruffled petal edges. These are fun to grow and would be an easy and rewarding summer gardening project for children.
