70 days. The Vilmorins of France mentioned this variety in 1885 and said it had been grown a “long time” then. A large handsome variety with bright red-orange roots; smooth, 10”-12” long and 2”-3” in diameter. Sweet and tender. Rare. Our favorite!

Review:

I have tried many varieties and all i can say is wow i pulled one early to see and it is huge. And super tasty. I had better germination then other varieties. And my other carrots i am growing are maybe the thinkness of 2 pencils right now, bit the St. Valery has to be 2 and 1/2 inches across and 12 inches long

What are the pros? A sure-fire carrot

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is just one of the best, most reliable carrots around. Strong germinator, excellent flavor, and great in the fall.

What are the pros? Easy to grow Good for canning

What are the cons? Bitter taste when eaten raw.

Review:

This carrot was easy to grow and produced large carrots. When cooked or canned the flavor was very sweet. However when eating fresh the carrot was very bitter. Would highly recommend as a canning carrot but not for fresh eating.

What are the pros? Best tasting carrot

What are the cons? None

Review:

I tried 6 or 7 varieties this spring, including some I've grown before, and this is the best tasting. I am going to try the same several varieties in a fall planting to see if flavors are the same, as some people have said to me that fall-grown carrots are sweeter.

Review:

Flavor is AMAZING. High germination rates. High yields. Out performed every other variety I've grown. Some carrots were 2 lbs, yet still lovely and tender. We have a very challenging climate and this was amazing.
