Heirloom Vegetables are Delicious and Nutritious!

Why Heirlooms?

Whether you’re growing food to feed your family, share with your neighbors, or sell from your market garden, you’ll be able to find what you are looking for here. Heirloom & open-pollinated vegetables are known for being more flavorful and – often – more nutritious than hybrid varieties. Growing from heirloom seeds also helps to maintain the genetic diversity of our food supply. Our vegetable seeds are tested to ensure that they are free of  GMOs, and we encourage you to save seeds from the varieties you like to grow next year or share with your neighbors!

How-To Guides

Because many of the seeds we offer are hard to find and the varieties are sometimes unusual, or used in unfamiliar cuisines, we offer guides to growing and saving seeds, written by our staff horticulturalists, and recipes we have collected to help you learn more about how to grow and use them.  We are constantly testing and adding new recipes here on our website and in our annual Whole Seed Catalog. We also offer a selection of books (including cookbooks!) to help you learn more!

New Vegetables

We are constantly searching the planet and researching the histories of lost varieties to bring you something new.  In 2025, we are especially excited to offer the cherished heirloom Adventist Pole bean, valued for its nutritional benefits and versatility in the kitchen. From Syria, we have the Aleppo pepper and Spotted Aleppo Syrian lettuce seeds. You'll also want to check out the spectacular Martian Jewels corn seeds. And of course we still offer old favorites like the New Kuroda Carrot, Dragon Tongue Bush Bean, and Little Gem Lettuce.
