Satsuma Ohnaga Bitter Melon

Rating:
100% of 100

Hails from the scenic, southwestern bay area tip of Kyushu Island, Japan where some of the finest bitter melons are produced. This is an ideal bitter melon for making into tea or cooking. This exceptionally long and slender fruit is delicious sliced and stir fried. A potent superfood often paired with mellow flavors like cooked garlic and beans. Long vines produce many light green, snake-like fruits that tend to lighten at the tips. Teardrop bumps and ridges sometimes spiral around the long, 16-18 inch fruits. These make a healthful addition to the kitchen garden, containing nearly as much vitamin C as citrus!
