Borage

(Borago officinalis) Borage is native to the Middle East, and this ancient herb offers dazzling, star-shaped flowers and edible, cucumber flavored foliage. This frost-tender annual will easily reseed itself and reappear in your garden every year. It's said that borage grown amongst strawberries will increase the yield of fruit! Direct sow, ¼ to ½ inch deep and 12 inches apart, as soon as the soil can be worked. Ideal germination temperature is 70 F but it will pop easily in your cool spring soil. Seeds germinate in 7-14 days. Succession plant for a longer blooming season. Grow in full sun; this plant is not picky about soil quality. Borage frequently reseeds itself year after year.
