(Persicaria orientale) Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate is an annual that readily reseeds in the garden. An old-fashioned, cottage garden classic, it boasts tall dense braches and arching stems. Bees and butterflies adore the flirty blooms of this Victorian era favorite. Seeds require a cold period in order to germinate, so fall or early winter planting is ideal. These feathery flowered plants prefer full sun and can reach up to eight feet tall in their first season! Great for cut flower arrangements or dried flower craft projects. Direct seed or set previously started transplants outdoors 2 to 3 weeks after last spring frost date. Ideal germination temperature is 65-75F. Seeds germinate in 14-28 days. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep. Provide rich soil well amended with compost. Space plants 12-18 inches apart. Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate is a true annual eager to reseed and therefore has the potential to become invasive.
