This 19th century heirloom is still beloved by market farmers and home gardeners. This superb variety was developed in the 1860s by produce merchant S.B. Conover of New York City. Its massive spears and super high yields have been praised by the likes of famous 19th century market gardener Peter Henderson, as well as the Royal Horticultural Society.
