(Salvia spp.) Salvia is an annual flower that produces masses of color, making it a perfect landscape plant. It is native from the Mediterranean to Iran, and has long been used as a medicinal herb. We offer several species of salvia. Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost date. Press the seeds into the soil, but do not cover, as they need light to germinate. Seeds germinate in 7-14 days. Ideal germination temperature is 75-78F. Salvia prefers growing in full sun to part shade. Provide well-drained soil; plants do not like excessive moisture. Space plants 12-18 inches apart.
