(Satureja hortensis) Summer savory is an annual herb native to southestern Europe. It is a versatile culinary herb that hsa been dubbed the "bean herb" for its ability to bring out a rich flavor in certain legumes. Chefs in the know highly covet this hard-to-find herb. Ideal germination temperature is 65-70F. Seeds germinate in 7-14 days. Surface sow 1/4 inch deep and press seeds into soil as light aids germination. Keep seeds moist until germination. Provide full sun. Space plants 8 inches apart. Prefers well-drained soil and regular moisture. Its flowers are very attractive to pollinators.
