Tansy

(Tanacetum vulgare) Tansy is a perennial medicinal plant native to Europe. It has naturalized in much of North America, and it is known to add potassium to soil. Start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, or direct seed outdoors after last frost. Ideal germination temperature is 70F. Sow seeds 1/4-1/8 inch deep. Seeds germinate in 10-20 days. Tansy prefers full sun to light shade, well-drained soil and moderate moisture. Space plants 8-12 inches apart. For blooming varieties, succession plant every few weeks for continuous blooming. Space plants 24-36 inches apart.
